Looking back at the Version 4.1 release

Version 4.1 of InstructBot was officially released on April 9th, following two months in alpha and an additional two months in beta. The release was strategically timed to coincide with the retirement of the Twitch PubSub API and was supported by a significant reduction in issue reports from beta testers.

Despite the beta phase, the public release uncovered several bugs as the update reached the broader user base. Most of these issues were related to the new user interface, while others stemmed from changes to how activities, such as cheers, donations, follows, are processed. These changes were introduced to provide greater flexibility, but they also surfaced edge cases not encountered during testing.

Fortunately, the majority of bugs were resolved within 24 hours, with only a handful taking slightly longer. As a result, overall impact was minimal.

To prioritize the release and address the Twitch PubSub API deprecation, a number of planned features were deferred. These are now planned to be included in the upcoming Version 4.2 update planned for the end of Q3.
